What format are the units available in and are they reproducible?
We have the units available in print packages and as downloadable PDF files. Permission is granted for an individual teacher to copy this unit (purchased in print or electronic format) for students within her or his classroom. Unless special permission has been arranged with the publisher, sharing this unit (in print or electronic format) with other teachers or individuals is not permitted. File sharing P2P, via email or online is not permitted.
What is the reading level of the novel study or curriculum unit?
Generally, the reading level of the unit is 2 – 3 levels lower than that of the intended audience. eg. A novel study used with Grade 6 students will be written at a grade 3/4 level. In some of the curriculum units, particularly Science, there are technical terms that will raise the reading level.
Will the curriculum units match my provincial curriculum?
Our Curriculum units are written with Canadian provincial curriculum in mind. There are slight differences from province to province. Please refer to the tab on the Home Page showing curriculum correlations of our units to provincial curricula.
Are there answer keys?
The answers for all activities are provided at the back of each unit.
Who writes the units?
They are written by Classroom Teachers and Learning Support Teachers across Western Canada. If you have written adapted material for your students and would like to share it with other teachers, please contact us and we will provide further information.
After placing an order online how and when will I receive my electronic materials?
Once your order has been processed a “download” link will be sent to your email address as part of your order confirmation. This link will allow you to download your Davies and Johnson materials same day. The link is only valid for 2 downloads, so make sure you save a copy of your document(s) to your desktop/ external hard drive for future use.
Where is my order confirmation email?
If you cannot find your order confirmation email:
- Double check email address is correct
- Check junk email box
- Go online and log in to your account. Check the “My Account” page which will have a list of your active downloads
